Thought I’d take a moment for a thrush review to look at diagnosis issues…

We will often notice thrush around the triangle of the frog (black, smelly goo). Remember though that by the time you actually “see and smell” thrush, the bacteria has been working inside that foot, eating away, and the goo is the result of that process. That heel crack and too-deep collateral grooves are warm and moist inside, a perfect environment for bacteria. The critters go to work on the soft inner tissue and eventually eat tiny holes throughout the frog. However, often times all the thrush stays only in the heel crack, where we won’t necessarily see it.

That means the goal of a thrush product should be to attack thrush, but also to aid in the re-growth of the heel crack and the deep collateral grooves. NO THRUSH (NT DRY) does just this. NT does several things at once. Its natural ingredients are strong enough to attack bacteria, but they are not caustic. NT  will not burn the sensitive tissue inside the foot, which would prevent re-growth. NT also absorbs and removes the excess moisture in the frog and heel. Of course this moisture is a major factor in thrush developement, so by removing it, we are gaining ground quickly.

NT attacks most active thrush cases in 4-7 days. (No more black, no more goo). THEN, when used regularly after that (every 2 days or so), NT dusting will aid in the heel crack and too-deep collateral groove re-growth. This process will generally take 30-40 days. NOTE: NT is not “making” the tissue grow, (no product can do that), it is “allowing” the tissue to grow.

The result of this re-growth creates a “dimple” at the heel. Not a “Crack.” Again, this means that there is now no direct access to the inner part of the foot.

At this point it is important to note that a horse with thrush will always tend to get it again. So we can now use NO THRUSH as a weekly proactive maintenance program. This weekly dusting will help keep frogs and heels firm and healthy.
